QIF (.qif)

QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) is a long-standing plain-text format. Each transaction is a block of single-letter lines (D for date, T for amount, P for payee) ended by a caret. It predates OFX and is still widely supported.

OFX (.ofx)

OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the closest thing to a universal bank-data standard. It carries each transaction's date, amount, type, name, and a unique ID, so financial software can import it without any column mapping.
